‘Forty advocates in city lost their lives due to COVID’

Mysore/Mysuru: A total of 40 advocates have lost their lives due to COVID and State Government should give compensation to the family members of COVID victims, said President of  Mysuru Bar Association S. Anand Kumar.

While addressing media persons at the Court premises in Malalavadi, he said, “Members of Bar Association have appealed to the State Government to release compensation for the victim’s family. More than 40 advocates died due to COVID in the last one and half years. Although lawyers were declared as frontline workers by State Government no packages or facilities were provided to them.”

“Besides, hundreds of advocates have recovered from COVID but they are suffering due to financial crisis. So we request the State Government to help lawyers with financial assistance. Also litigants and advocates are facing problems due to irregular proceedings at District Courts,” added Anand Kumar.
