Forum protests against relieving of Corona Warriors from duty

Mysore/Mysuru: Condemning the relieving of Corona Warriors who had done significant work during COVID pandemic, the medical and para-medical staff staged a protest near Deputy Commissioner’s Office under the banner of Karnataka State Samyukta Health Department Contract Employees Association on Tuesday.

The protestors said that the services by Corona Warriors during the pandemic are invaluable as they provided timely services to the needy and played a vital role in controlling the death of affected patients. “Our role during those difficult times was appreciated by everybody including the officials. Even politicians whole-heartedly praised our services. But now we have been relieved from our duties,” they lamented.

“During the peak of the pandemic, over 6,000 people including Doctors, Staff Nurses, Lab Technicians and Swab collection staff were appointed and we risked our lives to discharge duties. But citing slowing down of Corona cases, we have been removed from our services which is deplorable. The State Government must withdraw this order and reinstate Corona Warriors considering our past services to the society,” they urged.
