To demand re-introduction of Old Pension Scheme
Mysore/Mysuru: Seeking scrapping of New Pension Scheme (NPS) and restoration of Old Pension Scheme (OPS), the OPS Restoration Joint Action Forum will take out a massive protest rally in city tomorrow (Mar. 21).
Announcing this at a press meet here on Friday, the Forum office-bearer Shivaprakash said that the rally will be taken out from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the Palace North Gate to the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office, where a demonstration will be held.
Maintaining that the life of retired Government servants was smooth under the OPS, Shivaprakash contended that the NPS is confusing and is against the interests of pensioners. Several representations and protests urging the Government to restore OPS has gone in vain. As such, all the Unions of State and Central Government Employees have come together and formed the Forum to take forward the cause of OPS.
The Forum will take out a rally in all district headquarters of the State on Mar. 21 and submit a memorandum to the DCs in the first phase, he said adding that the future course of action will be chalked out if the Government does not consider their demand.
Continuing, Shivaprakash said that following protests, the States of Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh have reintroduced the OPS after scrapping NPS. However, the Centre has no plans to scrap NPS, which has bothered the working class, he said adding that the Forum also plans to hold a series of protests regarding the issue.
Forum Office-bearers Somegowda, Arthur Fernandes, Somashekar, Tulajappa Nadagatti, D. Shivaparakash, Pavitran and others were present.
