Forza International Veterans TT Cup – 2017: City’s Dr. B.R. Sainath Iyer strikes gold in team event

The Indo-Sri Lankan Veterans Table Tennis Team led by Dr. B.R. Sainath of Mysuru won the gold medal in Forza International Veterans Table Tennis Cup -2017 organised by Forza Sports Management, Mumbai in association with Goa Veterans Table Tennis Association under the auspices of Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) and Indian Veterans Table Tennis Committee (IVTTC) at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Goa, recently.

Apart from Dr. Sainath the team comprised of Najmi Kinkhabwala (Gujarat) and Dr. Gerard Lucas (Sri Lanka) defeated the Team Indore comprising of Indresh Purohit and A.Shaikh from India in final by 3-0 margin. The winning team won Rs.15,000 cash, a trophy and medals.

He also reached quarter-final in 70+ men’s singles event. Veteran players from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives and Nepal took part in the tournament.
