Four-day powerloom products mela opens in city

Mysuru: A four-day buyer-seller- meet-cum-powerloom products mela organised by the Regional Office of the Textiles Commissioner, Bengaluru, began at Nityotsava Convention Hall near Ashoka Circle (Ballal Circle) in Krishnamurthypuram, here this morning.

Manufacturers from various clusters across the country have displayed their products in 22 stalls erected at the convention hall. A wide range of textile products including dhotis, sarees, dress materials, bed sheets, towels, napkins and other items are on display and on sales at affordable prices.

Inaugurating the mela, Additional Deputy Commissioner T. Yogesh said that the Union Government was providing good marketing support for powerloom factories under integrated sector. He pointed out that the buyer-seller-meet was being conducted frequently at various places to promote powerlooms in decentralised sector.

K.Satish Kumar, Assistant Director, Regional Office of the Textiles Commissioner welcomed and delivered the keynote address. T.V. Maruthi, COA Member, Power Loom Expert Promotion Council,Mumbai, R.V. Ramesh, President, A. Vijayaraj, Vice-President, B.V. Madhava Rao, Secretary, Mysore Textile and Readymade Garments Merchants Association and others were present.

The mela is open for public from 10 am to 8 pm till July 23 and entry is free.
