Four kids among seven rescued from beggary

Mysore/Mysuru: The City Police have rescued three women and four children from beggary at various places across the city.

The Special Juvenile Police Unit and Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, along with the District Children Protection Unit, Social Welfare Department, Childline, Labour Department and the Department of Women and Child Development, conducted the drives at K.R. Circle, City Bus Stand, Devaraj Urs Road, Old Bank road near Prabha Talkies, Gandhi Square, Ramaswamy Circle, Dasappa Circle, Rural Bus Stand, Govt. Ayurveda College and Hospital Circle, Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, Mysuru zoo, Ele Thota, Manipal Hospital Junction and other places. The rescued women and children have been admitted to Sthree Seva Nikethan. 

City Police Commissioner B. Ramesh said that “The special drive was held to prevent beggary, as it would bring a bad name to Mysuru, known as the Cultural City and added that two teams have been formed to conduct operations which will be held frequently.”
