Four sentenced for murder

Mysuru: A City Court has sentenced four persons for the murder of a person in 2015.

Those sentenced have been identified as Biligiri, Puttaraju, Rangashetty and Geetha, all residents of Bidaragudu in Nanjangud taluk.

While the first accused Biligiri and fourth accused Geetha have been sentenced to life imprisonment, the other two convicts have been sentenced to simple imprisonment.

The four were convicted of murdering Kumar of Bidaragudu.

Biligiri, who was married, entered into an extra-marital affair with Geetha, whom he was courting before her marriage with Kumar. When Kumar learnt about the illicit relationship of his wife Geetha with Biligiri, Kumar had warned Geetha.

Irked by her husband’s warning, Geetha and her alleged paramour  Biligiri hatched a plot to kill Kumar.

As per the plot, Kumar was lured by the duo, to a secluded place on the night of Feb. 17, 2015, when Biligiri and Geetha along with their two accomplices Puttaraju and Rangashetty, killed Kumar by repeatedly striking his head with a cycle chain.

The foursome, after killing Kumar, had burnt the body at a crematorium closeby. Hullahalli Police, who had registered a case in this regard, conducted investigation and submitted the charge-sheet against the accused in the Court.

The Second Additional Sessions Judge Vijayakumar M. Anandshetty who heard the case, sentenced Biligiri and Geetha to life imprisonment and two other accused Puttaraju and Rangashetty to simple imprisonment, it is learnt. Public Prosecutor H.D. Anand Kumar argued on behalf of the State.
