Four seriously ill after consuming spurious liquor

K.R. Pet: Four persons are battling for life at a Mysuru hospital after allegedly consuming spurious liquor sold at petty shop at Krishnapura in the taluk on Tuesday afternoon.

Mahadeva, 50, Suresh, 29 of Krishnapura, Thammaiah, 45, of Lingapura and Yogesh, 34, of Paregowdanakoppalu in K.R. Pet taluk, are the ones who are undergoing treatment at K.R. Hospital in Mysuru.

The four are said to have started vomiting and complained of severe stomach ache minutes after they allegedly consumed spurious liquor, following which they were rushed to K.R. Pet General Hospital, from there they were shifted to Mysuru K.R. Hospital, where they are currently being treated at the Hospital’s ICU.

Soon as the news spread, angry villagers of Krishnapura staged a demonstration accusing the Police and Excise officials of failing to curb sale of illicit liquor in petty shops.

Seeking stringent action against illicit liquor sellers, the villagers demanded that the sellers meet all the medical expenses of all the four persons who have fallen seriously ill.
