Four youths nabbed for assault and extortion bid

Mysore/Mysuru: Lashkar Police, have arrested four persons on charges of assaulting a father and his son and trying to extort money from them.

While the arrested youths are 19-year-old Jeevith and Srinivas, 21-year-old Chethan and 22-year-old Sachith, the victims were Narasimhaiah and his son, residents of Shanthigrama in Hassan district.

Narasimhaiah, an employee of Shanthigrama Gram Panchayat, had come to city along with his son to enquire the health of a relative who was admitted to K.R. Hospital.

The father and son duo, after meeting their relative at the Hospital, they left the hospital at midnight and were proceeding towards Sub-Urban Bus Stand on foot, when four youths waylaid them, assaulted them and tried to extort money from them.

Meanwhile, a Garuda patrol Police vehicle, which was on night beat, came to the spot and the four youths tried to escape but the Police caught hold two of them, brought them to the Police Station and interrogated them.

Based on the information provided by them, the Police have arrested two others.

While accused Jeevith is an aspirant of a Government job on compassionate grounds, Chethan is an employee of a two-wheeler showroom and Sachith is a contract employee at BSNL, according to Police.

Lashkar Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
