Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination camp

Mysore/Mysuru: A free anti-rabies vaccination camp organised by Dogs Protection Trust, an NGO, in association with Shree Pet Clinic began this morning in the premises of Raitha Santhe, MUDA Complex, Vijayanagar 2nd Stage here.

A total of 120 dogs had been vaccinated till afternoon, with more number of dogs expected, as the camp will be open till 5 pm.

The camp was inaugurated by Advocate and Corporator of Ward-20 (Vijayanagar) M. U. Subbaiah, which was followed by the registration of the dogs, with separate desk opened for the purpose. The dogs aged above two months and those which have completed 10 months since the last vaccination were given anti-rabies vaccine. Several dog owners had registered in prior, while some of them walked in straight to the camp, to avail of the benefit. Trustee of Dogs Protection Trust Ashika Appaiah told Star of Mysore that “Both pet dogs and stray dogs can be brought to the camp. Even the pet cats will be given vaccine, but the focus is more on dogs considered as the main cause for transmission of rabies virus to humans in 92 percent of the cases reported in the country. It is the fifth camp organised by the Trust started two years ago.”

Dr. Deepak of Shree Pet Clinic is administering the vaccine to dogs at the camp.

Trustees of Dogs Protection Trust, Ashwini Hullati, Vidushi and Venkata Swamy were present on the occasion.
