Mysuru: A free artificial limb distribution camp has been organised at Sthanikvasi Jain Sangha premises in Halladakeri, 3rd Cross, Mahaveernagar, tomorrow (July 7) at 11 am, said Raichur’s M.K. Bhandari Hospital Administrator Dr. Mohammad Riazuddin.
Addressing a press conference at the Patrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, he said that the artificial limb manufacturing centre was set up by Rajmal Khemraj Bhandari (RKB) Foundation at the OPEC Hospital premises in Raichur. In the last three years it has successfully conducted several camps and artificial limbs have been freely distributed to nearly 3,500 people along with other instruments to the physically challenged. This is the first time RKB Foundation is organising the camp in Mysuru, he added.
The camps will be conducted in different taluks of the district including Nanjangud, Mysuru, Periyapatna, K.R. Nagar, Hunsur and H.D. Kote and in all, 221 artificial limbs and 164 instruments will be distributed freely. This event is sponsored by Karnataka State Minerals Corporation Limited, Bengaluru.
Under Smile Train organisation, free cleft and palate surgeries will be performed at M.K. Bhandari Hospital in Raichur. Nearly 6,000 surgeries have been performed in the last nine years.
The beneficiaries of this programme have been people from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Maharashtra and Gujarat, he said.
