Mysore/Mysuru: A free health camp was organised at Mandakalli Government School premises in Mysuru taluk recently. Gopala Gowda Shanthaveri Memorial Hospital, Dr. Vishnumurthy Rekha Trust and Karuna Trust, under Thar scheme, had organised the health camp which was attended by hundreds of villagers.
Speaking on the occasion, Gopala Gowda Hospital NeuroZone Head Dr. H.V. Shushrutha said that health camps are being organised in the rural areas with service-mindedness. “There is a target of conducting health checks for over 10,000 people by the end of December. Health camps have been already conducted at various places including Virajpet, Somwarpet, Hunsur, Kadakola and Sindhuvalli; In just a span of two months, 1,500 people have undergone health check-ups. For the next one year, their health enquiry will be done through phone calls,” he added.
A 35-member team including 12 specialist doctors are taking part in this health camp. Medicines are given for free, he said adding that in the coming days, health camps will be conducted at 25 slums for free.
Stating that hypertension and diabetes are found more in rural population, Dr. Shushrutha suggested that people should not be negligent and should get their health check-up done at least once in a year.
Former Syndicate Member of Mysore University Marballi Kumar and Gopala Gowda Hospital NeuroZone Administrator Dhanya Shushrutha were present.
