Free medical camp by Rotary Ivory City

Mysuru/Mysore: Rotary Ivory City Mysuru held a free medical camp from Jan. 20 to 23 at Sri Sathya Sai School in Jayalakshmipuram. Over 1,700 needy persons received general medical check-up and eye tests. Medicines and over 1,000 spectacles were distributed on the occasion free of cost. It was a joint project of Ivory City, Rotary E Club, Bengaluru, Rotary Koramangala, Bengaluru and Usha Kiran Eye Hospital.

Optometrists and Physicians from Bradford, United Kingdom, flew down from England, UK, to render free service to the poor and needy; well-supported by technicians and volunteers from Gujarat, JSS medical team and Usha Kiran Eye Hospital. 

Project was monitored by Past Assistant Governor Rtn. Sunil L. Baliga of Ivory City and Rtn. Dr. K.V. Ravishankar, Usha Kiran Eye Hospital. Club President Rtn. S. Balachandar and members coordinated with the medical team headed by Dr. Kanthilal Mistry (Bradford), Dr. Puspabehen, Dr. Venkata Ramana, UK, Rtn. Ravikumar and Dr. Sundareshan, Bengaluru.

Patients who required continuation of check-ups, treatment and surgical corrections were referred to Kamakshi Hospital and Usha Kiran Eye Hospital  under subsidised costs.

At the valedictory function, Dr. Kanthilal Mistry was felicitated with “Nethra Rakshak Award” along with a citation. He was also conferred “Honorary Rotarian” status of Rotary Ivory City.
