Free pain relief camp marks National Ayurveda Day

Mysuru: Marking National Ayurveda Day, District Administration, Zilla Panchayat and Department of AYUSH together had organised a programme at Sthree Shakti Bhavan in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage here this morning.

A free ayurveda pain relief camp was held for needy patients. An awareness on preparation and efficacy of home medicines was also provided on the occasion. Doctors of AYUSH Department presented a demonstration on Panchakarma treatment with focus on pain relief.

Speaking on the occasion, District AYUSH Officer Dr. B.S. Seethalakshmi said that the Department was caring for the health of the people with a theme ‘Ayurveda to relieve pain.’

She further said that seven Ayurveda Hospitals have been established in Mysuru taluk. She added that ayurvedic medicines were without side-effects and observed that it was becoming popular among people. Mallige Veeresh, Chairperson, Zoo Authority, K. Radha, Deputy Director, Department of Women and Child Welfare, Shivanandaiah, Assistant Administrative of AYUSH, Mahadevappa, Corporator and others were present.

JSS Ayurveda Medical College: A function was also organised by JSS Ayurveda Medical College at its premises in Lalithadripura here this morning.

Inaugurating the programme, Dr. N.V. Srivatsa, Senior Medical Officer, Ayurveda Hospital, Kerala, opined that doctors should be humane basically to do justice to the profession. Dr. P. Akkamahadevi, HoD of Emergency Medicine, JSS Medical College, R. Mahesh, Director (Medical Education), JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Dr. K. Lakshmeesha Upadhya, Principal of the College and others were present. Earlier, a Dhanavantri Puja was performed.
