Mysuru: JSS Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysuru, in association with Department of ENT, JSS Hospital, Mysuru, has organised a ‘free speech and hearing evaluation, hearing aid distribution, hearing aid repair and cochlear implant enrolment’ camp at JSS Hospital in city (Room No.: 1052  and 1053) from Feb.5 to 7. This camp is organised in collaboration with Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech & Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan), Mumbai.

Those who have hearing problem may get their hearing tested and avail hearing aid free of cost. Individuals who have availed this facility in the previous years can get their instruments for reprogramming and repair if necessary.

Documents required for availing free hearing-aid are as follows: Copy of Aadhaar card, hearing disability certificate with hearing disability 40% or above (issued by Civil Surgeon/ competent authority of respective State Government), income certificate issued by competent authority, two recent passport size colour photographs.

Those with monthly Income up to Rs.15,000 will get the hearing aid free of cost, monthly Income from Rs.15,000 to Rs.20,000 will get the hearing aids at concessional rate of 50% of the cost of the aid.

Free cochlear implantation

Eligible children can also be enrolled for free cochlear implantation under ADIP scheme (Govt. of India). Child within five years of age, 90% or more hearing loss in both the ears, monthly income not exceeding Rs. 15,000, may avail the benefit. For details, contact Ph:  0821-2548229.
