Freedom fighter K.S. Shivanna passes away in city

Mysuru: Freedom Fighter K.S. Shivanna (86) passed away early this morning at a Hospital in city.

He is survived by two sons Guru Mallesh and Chida Shivanna, three daughters Veena, Manjula and Parvathy,  grand-children, a host of relatives and friends.

His body was kept at his daughter’s residence in Bogadi for public viewing and his last rites were performed at Lalithadripura Veerashaiva burial grounds this evening, according to family sources.

As a student, Shivanna had participated in the 1947 Mysore Chalo Movement and was jailed for 17 days. Born in Nanjangud taluk in 1931, Karalapura Siddaveeraiah Shivanna had his primary education in Chamarajanagar, when he took part in the Mysore Chalo Movement. He was arrested in Nanjangud for taking part in the movement and was lodged in Mysuru sub-jail.

K.S. Shivanna  retired as Government High School teacher from Maharaja High School in  Nazarbad here.

District Administration pays last respects

On behalf of the District Administration, Mysuru Taluk Tahsildar T. Ramesh Babu and Hinkal Gram Panchayat Village Accountant Kumar paid their last respects to the freedom fighter by placing a wreath on his body.
