Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) D. Randeep has warned of taking legal action against petrol bunk owners for staging protests by closing retail outlets frequently and causing inconvenience to the public.
The DC, in a press release, has stated that the bunk owners on June 16 and July 5 had staged protest illegally and had not supplied petrol and diesel to the public.
The release further stated that the retail outlets which are the authorised agencies of the Central Government for distribution of petrol and diesel had staged unauthorised and illegal protests thus hampering the distribution of fuels which amounts to punishable offence under Essential Commodities Act 1955 and Karnataka Essential Services Maintenance Act 2013, Motor Spirit and High Speed Diesel (Regulation of Supply and Distribution and Prevention of Malpractices) Order, 1998 and The Karnataka Essential Commodities (Maintenance of Accounts, Display of Prices and Stocks) Order, 1981.
The DC has further stated that the fuel distributors should solve their problems through lawful ways and could submit their petitions through the Central and State Government oil companies or through the Deputy Commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep has warned of taking legal action against those stopping the supply of fuels by staging protests frequently, which has become inevitable.
