Mysuru: Strongly condemning former BJP MLC G. Madhusudan’s alleged remarks while speaking to a TV channel, that a Constitution which mentions Tipu as freedom fighter cannot be honoured, members of various Dalit organisations staged a protest in front of K.R. Police Station here yesterday urging the Police to file a case against the former MLC.
Claiming that the entire world has acknowledged the Constitution of India scripted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, they alleged that Madhusudan’s alleged remarks against the Constitution has threatened the unity of the country besides humiliating Dr. Ambedkar.
The protesters alleged that despite lodging complaint with the Police, the Cops had not registered an FIR and demanded the Police to register the same and warned of continuing the protest if they (Police) failed to do so.
Meanwhile, K.R. Inspector Prakash told the protesters that there are no required information in the complaint to register an FIR and asked the protesters to withdraw their stir, but in vain.
K.R. Sub-Division ACP Dharmappa, who arrived at the Police Station, collected information and went through the video which is produced as a witness to the allegations and said that the video does not have necessary information to register an FIR.
Members of Dalita Sangarsha Samiti (DSS), Samvidhana Samrakshana Horata Samiti, Dalita Vidyarthi Vedike and other Dalit organisations took part in the protest.
On Monday, members of Samvidhana Samrakshana Horata Samiti had staged a demonstration in front of former MLC G. Madhusudhan’s residence at Agrahara here seeking action against the ex-MLC for his irresponsible remarks against the Constitution.
K.R. Police, on learning about the protest, rushed to the spot and had provided security to Madhusudan’s residence.
DSS had also staged a demonstration in front of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue in Town Hall premises over the same issue.
