Mysore/Mysuru: In separate cases, Varuna Police and Mysuru Rural Police, who raided gambling dens in their jurisdictions, have arrested a total of 10 gamblers and seized Rs. 53,010 stake money from them.
In the first case, Varuna Police, who raided a gambling den, have arrested seven persons indulged in gambling and have seized Rs. 40,980 stake money from them.
Those arrested are Prasanna Kumar, Narayana Nayaka, Madhu, Naveena, Manjunath, Manu and Chandru, residents of Vajamangala in the taluk.
Following a tip off that gambling was taking place at a mango grove on May 1, Varuna Police raided the place at about 4 pm and arrested the gamblers besides seizing the stake money. Varuna Police have registered a case.
In the second case, Mysuru Rural Police, who raided a gambling spot under a tree on the lake bund, behind a house at Talur village in the taluk on May 2, have arrested 3 persons, who were among 7 persons indulged in gambling and seized Rs. 12,030 stake money from them.
Those arrested are Manjunathaswamy, Kumara and M. Kumar, residents of Talur village.
Four other gamblers fled from the spot during the raid.
A case has been registered against seven persons at Mysuru Rural Police Station.
