Gambling: 43 arrested, Rs. 1,66,170 cash and 33 mobile phones seized

Mysuru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) Police, who conducted separate raids on a Recreation Club and a lodge in city, have arrested 43 persons who were indulged in gambling and have also seized Rs. 1,66,170 stake money and 33 mobile phones from them.

In the first raid, the CCB Police on July 17, raided New Modern Recreation Club located in Visvesvaraya Building in K.R. Circle here and arrested 37 persons involved in gambling (Andar Bahar) besides seizing Rs. 1,51,630 stake money and 33 mobile phones from them.

The arrested have been identified as Sundarappa of Mellahalli in Nanjangud taluk, S. Prakash of Gungral Chatra in Yelwal hobli, Mallesh of N.R. Mohalla, Vinod of Vishweshwaranagar, Santosh, Mahadeva and Puttaraju of K.R. Mohalla, Swamy and Manjunath of Hosabandikeri, Baanegowda of Kamanahalli in K.R. Pet taluk, Chennegowda of Varakodu in Varuna hobli, Manju of Ashokapuram, Syed Shabeer of Rajivnagar, Rangaswamy and Ramesh of Hinkal, Nataraju and Vishwanath of J.P. Nagar, Abdul Basheer and Krishna of N.R. Mohalla, Praveen Kumar of Tubinakere in Mandya district, Shivarudra of Gangadahosahalli in Kote taluk, Sundar of Madapura in Chamarajanagar district, Ramakrishna of Udbur in Jayapura hobli, Umesh of Hebbal, Chamaiah of Vidyanagar, Kumar of Vinayakanagar, Vasu of Chamarajanagar, Cheluvaraju of Yelwal, Siddappa of Ganeshnagar, Somashekarachar and Sanjaiah of Kuvempunagar, Mahesh of Anandur in Periyapatna taluk, Kumar of Subashnagar in K.R. Pet, Manju of Bookanakere hobli in K.R. Pet, Umesh of Tilaknagar, Anand of Chamundipuram and Club President M.L. Ramalingaiah of Devaraja Mohalla in city.

During interrogation, the Police came to know that Anand and Ramalingaiah had violated the rules by allowing non-members to the Club by luring them besides collecting money from them and involving them in gambling.

The CCB Police, who conducted another raid on a lodge in Hebbal Industrial Area on July 18, have arrested six persons involved in gambling (Andar Bahar) and have seized Rs. 14,540 stake money from them.

The arrested persons have been identified as Prakash and Vincent of Hebbal, Mohan and Mallesh of Mogarahalli Manti in Srirangapatna taluk, Suresh of Mahadeshwara Layout and lodge Manager Cheluvegowda of Hebbal.

Raju and Prasanna Kumar, ASI Shantharaju and staff Joseph Noronha, Lakshmikanth, Niranjan, Kariyappagowda, Rajesh, Asgar Khan, D. Srinivasa Prasad, Hiranaiah, Mahadevappa, Anil K. Shankhapal, Purushotham, Shylesh and Devaraja SI and staff in the raids, nabbing and seizing operations.
