‘Gana Nritya Suvarna Sangama’ on Dec. 16

To showcase 50 years journey of musician and dancer

Mysore/Mysuru: Central Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy will present ‘Gana Nritya Suvarna Sangama’ (in Vasundhara Bani) at RamaGovinda Rangamandira in Ramakrishnanagar between 6 pm and 8.30 pm on Dec. 16. Along with Vidu. Dr. P. Ramaa, Dr. Vasundhara will showcase 50 years journey together of a musician and a dancer.

The event will be inaugurated by Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoi, Managing Partner, Mangaluru Ganesh Beedi Works, Mysuru. Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar, Dr. Jyothi Shankar and Dr. Tulasi Ramachandra will  be the chief guests. Savitha Ramesh, President, VPAC&C Trust, will preside.

Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, Founder/Director of VPAC, Mysuru, a danseuse par excellence, versatile choreographer and a venerated Guru of Bharatanatyam,  has turned very much a phenomenon in the Indian Classical dance scenario over the past 6 decades and more of her career. She is the only person to get Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Bharatanatyam in Mysuru.

Vidu. Dr. P. Ramaa: Pusthakam Ramaa hails from the family of musicians, her mother Indira was her first Guru and later continued her training under Vidu. Dr. Nagamani Srinath and Vid. late R.K. Srikantan. She is a top graded artiste of AIR and has received ‘Karnataka Kalashree’ from Sangeet Nritya Akademy and many more awards for her contribution to dance music.

She has widely travelled and has given music for dance to stalwarts like Swapna Sundari, Pratibha Prahlad and to many others. Whereas she has given music for dance to Dr. Vasundhar Doraswamy for the last 50 long years.
