Mysuru: Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, the Pontiff of Avadhoota Datta Peetham in Mysuru, said that Ganeshotsava does not simply mean installation of Ganesha idols in households and pandals, but is also an important occasion where devotion, glory, culture, tradition and social unity are on display.
He was speaking after releasing the posters of the 23rd mass Ganesha idol immersion procession to be organised by Sarvajanika Ganesha Visarjana Samithi at Sri Ganapathy Ashram here on Tuesday.
Maintaining that the religious and cultural programmes organised during Ganeshotsava in the city are a symbol of social unity, the Swamiji said that the occasion also provides a platform for Hindu unity and bonding of community members.
He called upon the Hindus to take part in large numbers as a show of unity during the Ganesha idol mass immersion procession in city on Sept.20.
The grand procession will commence from Veeraganapathi temple in Vijayanagar at 1.45 pm on Sept. 20 and will pass through the main thoroughfares of the city.
Junior Pontiff Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji, Samithi members H.G. Giridhar, S. Murali, Jogi Manju, Vikas Shastri, Smart Manju, Anand, Velu and others were present.
