Ganesh, the sniffer dog retires

Mysore/Mysuru: Ganesh, the sniffer dog at City Dog Squad, retired from service yesterday. The officers and staff of the City Dog Squad accorded a warm farewell to their companion of years.

Ganesh, after obtaining training in detecting narcotics, was inducted to the Department on April 4, 2011. He had also won Southern Range Narcotics Detection competitions from 2015 to 2019 and had won the Best Dog award. He had participated in the State-level Police Duty Meet in 2017 (Narcotics detection) winning the Silver Medal and had represented Mysuru City Unit in the National Sports Meet held at Chennai in 2017.

Trained by Head Constable M. Balaraman, Ganesh was responsible for the detection of narcotics in Mandi Police limits and was involved in detecting narcotic substances in Mysuru Central Prison.

After serving for 10 years and one month, Ganesh retired from service yesterday. He was given a warm sendoff by CAR DCP Shivaraju, ACP N. Sudarshan, Dog Squad In-charge Officer K.M. Murthy, Inspector Suresh and others.
