Gang rape: Protests continue in city

Mysore/Mysuru: Three days after a girl student was gang raped by a group at Lalithadripura in the foot of Chamundi Hill, protests continued in city for the third day today.

Strongly condemning the incident, members of the District Unit of Bengaluru-based Human Rights Awareness Committee staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here this morning, demanding immediate arrest of all the culprits and stringent punishment for them. 

The protestors contended that the incident has shaken the city and the authorities should not show any leniency in punishing them.

Earlier, the committee members took out a bike rally from Dasara Exhibition Grounds to the DC Office, passing through Chamaraja Double Road and Ramaswamy Circle.

Committee office-bearers N. Chandrashekar, Maha-devaswamy, C.B. Paramesh, S. Balaji and others took part.

In another protest, Mysuru Kannada Vedike staged a demonstration over the same issue in front of the DC Office.

Vedike President N. Balakrishna, D.K. Paramesh, Bhuvan, Meenakshi and others took part.
