Mysuru: Heaps of garbage dumped along the roadside near Mission Hospital in Mandi Mohalla have become a cause for concern among residents and commuters, who say the area remains neglected despite being close to the Jumboo Savari route or the Raja Marga, used for the Mysuru Dasara procession.
Discarded vegetable and fruit peels, along with plastic and other waste, litter both sides of the road.
Cattle feeding on the garbage has become a common sight, adding to the unhygienic conditions. Residents are particularly concerned that the dumping continues right next to the Mission Hospital.
Residents fear the accumulated waste could become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, increasing the risk of diseases such as dengue and malaria.
They allege that garbage is dumped at the spot daily, but the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has failed to ensure regular cleaning, turning the roadside into an unofficial dumping yard.
Residents have urged the MCC to shift the waste collection point to a more suitable location and take strict action to prevent indiscriminate dumping of plastic and other waste.
They have also sought daily cleaning and sanitation work to protect public health and maintain area cleanliness.
