Gauri Lankesh murder case: Court extends Judicial custody period of the accused

Language hampering Narco-analysis Test

Bengaluru: The Court has extended the Judicial custody period of accused Naveen Kumar alias Hotte Manja, who was arrested in connection with the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh in Bengaluru.

As the custody period ended yesterday, the Third ACMM Court, which heard the case, extended the Judicial custody period. Naveen, who has been lodged in Parappana Agrahara Jail, appeared before the Court through video conference.

Language hampering Narco-analysis Test: Though the Forensic Science Laboratory at Ahmedabad has written a letter to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) asking it to fix a date for the test on Naveen Kumar, the SIT officials are facing the problem of the language now as there are no doctors or psychologists wwho knowKannada.

As the questions are supposed to be asked in Kannada, the SIT officials are looking out for doctors or psychologists who are well-versed in Gujarati and Kannada.

Sources said that once the SIT officials get a doctor who knows Kannada, the narco-analysis test would be conducted on Naveen Kumar.
