GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru, celebrated its Annual Techno-Cultural Fest ‘Geethayaana-2024’ on May 6, 8 and 9. This Annual Fest provided a platform for students from various Engineering Colleges to showcase their talents.
‘Geethayaana-2024’ was inaugurated by GSSS President Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy in the presence of GSSS Hon. Secretary Vanaja B. Pandit on May 8 at its premises here.
GSSS CEO & Management Committee Member R.K. Bharath, Board Member & Administrative Officer Anupama B. Pandit, GSSSIETW Principal Dr. M. Shivakumar, Chief Coordinators Dr. S.N. Sheshadri (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Chemistry) and G.M. Sowmya (Dept. of Physics), HODs, staff and students were present during the inaugural function.
The main attraction of the Fest was the ‘Dollu Kunita’ accompanied by the traditional attire of different regions of Karnataka. The students enjoyed dancing to the steps of the beating drums.
This popular event was laced with various competitions. On May 6, Technospardha events, comprising Crossword Puzzle, Circuit Debugging, Blind Coding, Technical Quiz, Poster Presentation, Technical Idea Presentation and Computer Gaming Competition, were held.
On May 8, cultural events such as Duet Dance, Group Dance, Classical and Hindustani vocal, Skit, Mime, Debate and Dumb Charades were held.
Students from various Engineering Colleges participated in this Inter-College Techno-Cultural Fest and bagged many prizes.
A musical night was arranged on the same evening where singers Shreeharsha and Aishwarya Rangarajan, with a melodious band, rocked the stage.
The valedictory function was held on May 9. Vidushi Dr. Jyothi Shankar, Professor & cultural thinker, was the chief guest.
Addressing the students, Dr. Jyothi Shankar applauded the efforts of late Prof. B.S. Pandit in opening a technical institution exclusively for girls.
She spoke about the Indian culture and also said that the learning process in a child begins when it is in its mother’s womb and she quoted a few examples which prove the same. She also reminded the students about the role of teachers in everyone’s lives and insisted them to respect their gurus in every walk of life.
Prizes were distributed to the winners & runners of various events. The overall achievement award, ‘Geethashree 2024’ was awarded to Avina Alvina D’Souza of 8th semester ECE. The Fest ended with a grand Fashion Show. While R. Nandini bagged ‘Miss Geethayaana-2024’ title, H.M. Nidhishree and V. Manya emerged – 1st and 2nd Runners-up respectively.
