Mysuru: Energy Minister K.J. George has directed officials to make the illumination planned for this year’s Dasara more attractive and innovative than last year and ensure that power supply is not affected.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting for the 2026 Dasara celebrations at the Karnataka Engineers’ Association auditorium in Kadakola on Friday, George said lakhs of tourists are expected to visit Mysuru and the illumination should provide them with a memorable experience.
“Last year’s illumination was well received. This year, it should be different, innovative and even more attractive,” he said.
The Minister also directed officials to take adequate precautionary measures to ensure that the additional power demand from the illumination did not affect electricity supply during the Dasara period.
“There have been no problems with the illumination so far. Continuous monitoring and proper preparations should be undertaken to ensure that there are no issues this year either,” he said.
CESC Mysuru Circle Superintending Engineer Sunil Kumar briefed the meeting on the illumination arrangements, including decorative installations and artworks planned along various roads and at junctions, as well as the artworks to be featured in the drone show.
MLA and CESC Chairman Ramesh Babu Bandisiddegowda, Karnataka Exhibition Authority Chairman Ayub Khan, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, CESC Managing Director M.S. Archana, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi, Tourism Minister’s advisor Dr. H.V. Santrupth and senior officials from CESC and KPTCL were present.
