Girl assault case: One arrested

Mysuru:  Jayalakshmipuram Police, on Wednesday evening have arrested one of the accused involved in the assault of a girl near a Pub in V.V. Mohalla here on last Saturday evening.

The arrested person has been identified as Dinesh Gowda and the Police are continuing their search to nab the other three accused, who are absconding.

On June 23 (Saturday) evening, the victim, who attended a party at the Pub near Panchavati Circle in V.V. Mohalla, was allegedly assaulted by four persons identified as Umesh, Vivek, Dinesh Gowda and Ravish, when she came out of the pub following which she lodged a complaint at Jayalakshmipuram Police Station and had also written a letter to the Prime Minister Office (PMO) seeking justice. Even the Intelligence Department had called the victim and had collected the details of the incident.

Fearing severe action against them as the victim had written to the PMO, the accused are said to have called the victim over the phone to compromise, following which the victim asked them to come near Café Coffee Day in V.V. Mohalla.

When Dinesh Gowda, one of the accused came to the spot, the Police, who were in mufti nabbed him, according to sources.

The Police, who have interrogated Dinesh, have launched a hunt to nab the other three accused, who are at large.
