An incident of a 26-year-old girl committing suicide by coming under a moving train has been reported near Varuna Canal close to Ring Road in city yesterday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Vijayalakshmi, daughter of Lakshmamma and a resident of Bamboo Bazaar here.

It is learnt that Vijayalakshmi was working at a petrol bunk on Hunsur Road in city.

Based on the information provided by the Thanjavur train engine driver, the Railway Police visited the spot and have taken necessary action.
