An incident of a girl committing suicide as her lover’s family opposed their love affair has been reported from N.R. Police limits in city yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as Melina (26), a Lab Technician student at K.R. Hospital and a resident of Kuri Mandi in N.R. Police limits.
It is reported that Melina, after the death of her husband, was pursuing Lab Technician course at K.R. Hospital.In the meantime, she became friends with one Roshan, an employee at a tiles manufacturing unit in city and also a resident of Kuri Mandi which later turned into love.
Roshan’s parents, who came to know about the love affair, opposed the affair and even quarrelled with Melina yesterday morning. Depressed over this, Melina committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence when the family members were away. Melina in her death note has held Roshan’s mother Mamatha and four others responsible for her death.
The incident came to light, when Melina’s mother Mary returned home only to see her daughter dead and immediately informed the N.R. Police.
N.R. Police, who rushed to the spot on receiving information, conducted mahazar and arrested all the five persons whose names were mentioned in the death note.
The arrested have been remanded to judicial custody. N.R. Police have registered a case in this regard.
