Girl loses legs while trying to board moving train

Mandya: A 23-year-old girl lost both her legs while trying to board a moving train at Hanakere Railway Station in the taluk on Apr. 29.

The girl, who lost her legs, is Annapoorna, daughter of Hanumanthaiah and a resident of Shirahatti taluk in Gadag district, who is working at Tata Electronics in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. She was staying at her relative’s house at Dasarahalli in Peenya, Bengaluru and the incident took place while she was travelling on some work from Ramanagar to Mysuru.

The train in which Annapoorna was travelling, stopped at Hanakere Railway Station during which she got down from the train and was speaking on her mobile phone when the train began to move slowly. Annapoorna, who noticed the train moving, tried to board the train, slipped and fell resulting in both her legs being severed.

She was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Bengaluru, where her condition is said to be critical. Mandya Railway Police have registered a case.
