Mysore/Mysuru: A girl student, who was pursuing her second year BCA course at a private college in Srirampura here, has committed suicide by hanging self in the hostel room at Srirampura yesterday.

The deceased student is Gishna (20), a native of Kupati in Pandalur taluk of Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu.

According to her friends, Gishna had failed in her exams and was depressed which forced her to take the extreme step. But the exact reason is yet to be known, Police said.

A case has been registered at Mysuru Rural Police Station in this regard.
