Give priority for basic road repairs and pothole-filling

Sir,

This refers to the letter titled ‘Prioritise road repairs in city; then go for Peripheral Ring Road’ by Kala Chary of Bogadi, on Dec. 11. The letter rightly pointed out to give priorities to thousands of roads inside city limits — like crossroad/ feeder roads to Main Roads that are not repaired for road cuttings, road humps etc.

Our elected representatives like the MP and the MLA of NR Constituency should pay a visit to see the conditions of these roads. Because of potholes and    unscientific roads, major accidents are happening and the victims are mainly two-wheelers. Especially areas in and around Bhavani Temple, Masjid-E-Mubeen and Rajendranagar Circle in N.R. Mohalla are causing inconvenience to two-wheelers in particular and senior citizens, children and disabled persons to walk through in general.

Under such circumstances is it not the priority of the Government and other authorities to set right the existing roads and pavements on a war-footing rather than go for Peripheral Ring Roads? If Mysuru should become a Cleanest City, let the Government priorities be people-friendly basic amenities than macro-level projects.
