Apropos the news item “Outer Ring Road to get 35 more traffic signals” (SOM dated Nov. 3), this is indeed a commendable initiative by the authorities concerned to streamline the ever-increasing vehicular movement on the Ring Road.
It would be highly appreciated if traffic signal lights could also be installed at one of the most chaotic junctions in Mysuru — the intersection of Gokulam Road and Hunsur Road — to ease the never-ending woes of hapless motorists.
Negotiating this junction is a herculean task at any time of the day, more so during peak traffic hours. The only rule that seems to prevail here is “might is right” and motorists need exceptional skill and patience to manoeuvre through the chaos safely.
Installing a signal at this busy junction would greatly improve traffic discipline and ensure smoother and safer movement for all road users.
