Gokulashtami celebrations at Mysore Palace

Mysuru: The Palace priests have been conducting various pujas and rituals as part of week-long Gokulastami celebrations which started on Sept. 14 at the Prasanna Krishna Temple located inside the Palace premises.

The priests performed ‘Bakasuravadhe’ rituals at Savari Thotti in the Palace and later took out a procession of the Lord Krishna’s idol around the Palace, yesterday.

They also offered special pujas Royal Cows, Royal Horse and Royal Elephants. The priests will perform ‘Yamalarjuna Moksha’, ‘Mohini-Basmasura’, ‘Malla Yudha’, ‘Raasa Kreeda’, ‘Kamadenu Puja’, ‘Rukmini Kalyana’ and other rituals till  Sept. 22 (Friday).

The rituals were witnessed by Pramoda Devi Wadiyar and Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar from the Royal balcony. Also present was Yaduveer’s wife Trishikha Kumari Wadiyar, who arrived from Bengaluru yesterday to take part in the Dasara celebrations.

Trishikha, who is pregnant, has been staying in Bengaluru since May, this year.
