Nomads arrive in city ahead of Dasara festivities

Mysuru: Among the many attractions that the city explodes to during Dasara, the countdown for which has begun, is the presence of the nomads with their colourful attire and the various items they peddle.

The nomads from Jaipur in Rajasthan have come along with their children and grandchildren and camped near the Big Clock Tower close to Town Hall seeing the business opportunity during Dasara.

The colourful balloons with cartoon characters are attracting the passers-by as they display them on the roadside. The characters that the children are fond of like Chota Bhim, Chutki, Raju, Dora, the lovely fishes, dolphins are all the designs that the nomads are creating by blowing air into the balloons and quickly making them.

“Every year we come ten days in advance of the Dasara commencing and after completing Vijayadashami we return to our place. We always stay in front of the stalls behind Dr. Rajkumar Park. Every day from morning till night we walk the streets of Mysuru. We have identified the places where business is good and we spend more time there,” the nomads said, speaking to Star of Mysore.
