Gold chain snatched at Nanjangud

Nanjangud: Bike-borne miscreants have snatched a gold mangalya chain near the 6th Cross of R.P. Road in the town on Thursday night.

The woman, who lost her gold mangalya chain, is Saraswathi, a resident of 9th Cross, who works at a private women’s organisation.

She had come to the 6th Cross on some work and was returning home when two persons, who were standing along with a Bajaj Pulsar bike on the middle of the road, attempted to snatch her gold chain. As Saraswathi held on to her 50 gram gold chain, the chain broke into three pieces and the two miscreants managed to flee with a part of the broken gold chain weighing about 25 grams.

Nanjangud Town Inspector Basavaraju and staff, who reached the spot, conducted mahazar, registered a case and obtained details from Saraswathi.

The Police, who have collected CCTV footages of cameras installed in the vicinity, are investigating. Meanwhile, residents have urged the Police to increase the frequency of night beats as the chain snatching took place within 200 mts from the Town Police Station, which has created a sense of fear among   the residents.

The residents have also expressed they anger over the Police for not nabbing chain snatchers following chain snatching in the town limits a few days ago.
