Mysuru/Nanjangud: In separate cases, miscreants have snatched gold chains from women in Mysuru and Nanjangud.
Bike-borne miscreants have snatched a gold chain of a woman, who was riding her scooter near Surya Bakery in Hebbal in Mysuru on Tuesday evening.
The woman, who lost her gold chain, is 36-year-old Manjula, a resident of Hebbal in city. She was riding her scooter near Surya Bakery on Tuesday evening, when two miscreants, who came from the opposite direction, switched on the headlight of the bike in high beam mode. When Manjula slowed down, the miscreant riding pillion on the bike yanked off about 70 grams of the 90 grams gold chain and sped away, according to Police.
Hebbal Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
Nanjangud: Bike-borne miscreants have snatched a gold chain of a woman who was returning after participating in a religious programme yesterday. The incident took place on the main road at Mahadeshwara Layout here.
The victim is Geetha, wife of retired teacher Doreswamy and a resident of Kumar Layout. She was returning home after taking part in a religious event, when two miscreants, who came on a bike, yanked off her 80 grams gold chain worth about Rs. 2.5 lakh and sped away.
Following complaint from Geetha, Nanjangud Town Circle Inspector Lakshmikanth Talawar, who conducted mahazar, said that chain-snatchers, who were silent since a few months, have again started to commit crime and added that a special team would be formed soon to nab them.
Dy.SP Govindaraju and Sub-Inspector Vijayaraju also visited the spot and collected information.
