Gold, silver worth Rs. 8.73 lakh stolen

Mysore/Mysuru: In separate cases, burglars have decamped with gold ornaments and silver articles worth Rs. 8.73 lakh from two houses at Ramabainagar and Yelwal here.

In the first case, burglars, who gained entry into the house of one R.P. Prakash, a teacher at a Government School in Kodimole village in Chamarajanagar taluk and a resident of Basaveshwara Layout in Ramabainagar in Mysuru South limits, have decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs. 8 lakh from the house.

As June 16 was a holiday, Prakash, along with his family, had gone to his native place Ramasamudra near Chamarajanagar. On June 17, Prakash’s neighbour called him over the phone and informed him that the door of his house was half open.

Prakash, who returned home, found the front door forcibly opened and on inspecting the house, he found the door of the wardrobe open and gold ornaments worth Rs. 8 lakh stolen and lodged a complaint at Mysuru South Police Station.

In the second case, burglars, who broke into the house of one K.M. Suresh at Ridda Habitat on Eeranakoppal Road in Yelwal, have decamped with silver articles worth Rs. 73,000 which was kept in the puja room.

On June 15, Suresh, along with his family members, left for Channarayapatna and when they returned on June 17, they found the lock of the gate missing and the front door of the house open.

On entering the house, they found the house ransacked and silver articles including silver lamps and silver mask of Lord Ganesha, all worth about Rs. 73,000 stolen and lodged a complaint at Yelwal Police Station.

Inform Police before going out of station: Meanwhile, the Police have urged the residents to inform their jurisdictional Police if they are going out of station for two to three days so that they (Police) can keep vigil on the house and also increase the beat around the house.

The Cops have informed the residents to inform their neighbours to keep an eye on the house before going out of station.
