Consumes acid in front of Police who had come to recover stolen ornaments
Mysuru, Nov.5 (SPN&KS)- A goldsmith attempted suicide by consuming acid in front of Police, who had come to his shop to recover stolen gold ornaments in a chain-snatching case.
The goldsmith is Krishnamurthy and the incident took place at Karibasappa Layout in Periyapatna yesterday.
Yesterday, Talaghattapura Police, Bengaluru, with the help of Periyapatna Police, raided the jewellery shop of Krishnamurthy to recover the stolen gold ornament. Shocked over the sudden raid by the Police, Krishnamurthy allegedly consumed acid kept in the shop and fell ill.
The Police immediately shifted Krishnamurthy to Periyapatna Taluk Hospital and later shifted him to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru for further treatment where the doctors immediately treated him and saved him from the jaws of death. Krishnamurthy was discharged from K.R. Hospital and admitted to a private hospital for advanced treatment, according to Police sources.
The Police, who conducted enquiry, came to know that the robbers, who used to steal gold ornaments and silver articles used to give the stolen booty to Krishnamurthy, who used to melt the gold and silver and sell it to others. But the Police refused to give more details. No case has been registered at Periyapatna Police Station in this regard.
