M.S. Ramaiah Applied Sciences University VC Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Raina at JSS Dental College Graduation Day
Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Raina, Vice-Chancellor, M.S. Ramaiah Applied Sciences University, Bengaluru, has said that a good healthcare infrastructure in rural areas is vital for India to become an energetic country in true sense.
He was speaking at the Graduation Reception for the 2018 batch students of JSS Dental College and Hospital held at the college premises in city on Oct. 4.
Noting that medical services should not be centred only around urban centres, Dr. Raina reiterated that a strong rural healthcare system is key for an energetic India.
Pointing out that dentists and other medical doctors should set up start-ups too, he said that such a step will help in employment generation.
Maintaining that getting the degree is like a passport for doctors to take up medical profession, he said that, however, doctors must realise that there is a big challenge that awaits them in the future.
Observing that earning a degree does not mean that study has come to an end, he said constant learning and updation of knowledge is key for success in career.
Dr. Anil Kumar Gujjari, a Senior Professor and former Dean of the College, administered the Hippocratic Oath to the graduates to uphold the highest ethical standards in their practice and serving humanity. A total of 97 students received their dental degree certificates on the occasion.
The overall topper of 2018 batch Dr. K.J. Teena was honoured along with other subject toppers — Dr. M.H. Pragathi (Topper in Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics), Dr. D. Lakshmeesha (Topper in 3 subjects: Public Health Dentistry, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge), Dr. Prathikantam Raghu Pavan (Topper in 2 subjects: Periodontology, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery), Dr. K.J. Teena (Overall topper), Dr. Shreyas Ashok Kohlapur (Topper in Oral Medicine & Radiology), Dr. V.S. Sheetal (Topper in Paediatric & Preventive Dentistry).
Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji graced the occasion. JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER) Pro-Chancellor Dr. B. Suresh, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Surinder Singh, Registrar Dr. B. Manjunatha, Controller of Examinations Dr. Sudeendra Bhat, JSS Dental College Principal Dr. M.R. Dhakshaini, Vice-Principal Dr. H.P. Jaishankar and others were present.
