Government to build seven lakh houses for shelterless: CM

Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has said that the Government was planning to construct seven lakh houses across the State for the shelterless.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony to construct 2,271 houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana at Bhootale Pitch (Grounds) in Vidyaranyapuram here yesterday, Siddharamaiah said that his Government was functioning under the principle of social justice.

Claiming that his Government had launched several initiatives that cannot be found elsewhere, Siddharamaiah said that his Government had built 12.5 lakh houses over the past four years. Now he has performed the ground-breaking for the construction of 2,271 houses in K.R. Constituency limits, he said.

Housing Minister K. Krishnappa, in his address, said that the State Government has constructed 12.5 lakh houses, besides issuing work orders for the construction of 10,000 houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

K.R. MLA M.K. Somashekar, in his presidential address, said that the houses to be built on Bhootale Pitch will be distributed among the shelterless of K.R. Assembly constituency.

Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, MLA Vasu, KSCB Chairman R.V. Devaraj, ZP President Nayeema Sulthana, MyLAC Chairman H.A. Venkatesh, KEA Chairman Siddaraju, Dy. Mayor Rathna Lakshman, Corporators Purushotham, Sunil, Sunil Kumar, J. Jagadish, Rathnamma Shantaveerendraswamy and Pushpalatha Chikkanna, former Safai Karmachari Commissioner Chairman Narayan and others were present.
