Government ready to meet President over quota in promotions: CM Siddharamaiah

Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has said that the State Government, if required, will take a delegation to the President on the Bill providing reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribe Employees in promotions. Speaking to press persons after laying the foundation for college and ladies hostel buildings of D. Sanjeevaiah Memorial Education Institutions at Vijayanagar First Stage here yesterday, Siddharamaiah said that the State Government was committed for providing reservation in promotions to SC/STs and would also approach the Governor over the matter.

Claiming that his Govt. has exhibited political will and has come with a Legislation to protect SC/STs, he said his Government did not heed to pressure not to introduce the Bill and stood by its commitment to protect SC/ST employees. The CM further maintained that his was the first Government in the country that passed a Legislation to earmark funds to the tune of Rs. 27,000 crore for SC/STs under special component funds.
