Bengaluru: Bowing to the persistent demands of private educational institutions, the State Government has allowed Private Schools to collect first instalment fees from students for the academic year 2020-21.
Badly affected by the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent nationwide lockdown, private educational institutions, which faced severe financial crunch due to loss of revenues, were demanding that the Government allow them to collect fees from students to stave off financial crisis.
With Government not allowing them to collect fees and also not releasing funds under Right To Education (RTE) grants, apart from announcing several detrimental measures, Private Schools under the banner of Associated Management of Primary and Secondary Schools in Karnataka (KAMS), had observed a Black Day on Saturday and also staged a demonstration against the Government at Shikshakara Sadana in Bengaluru.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister S.Suresh Kumar, responding to the demands of Private School Managements, issued an order allowing them to make student admissions and to collect first instalment fees from parents for the coming academic year (2020-21), while setting out certain conditions. The main condition is that the School Managements must compulsorily pay salaries to all staff and must also ensure that there are no complaints in this regard.
