Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Government has announced Rs. 5 lakh financial support for K.S. Shilpa, a K.R. Nagar-based para shot putter, who is representing the country at Commonwealth Games – 2026 being held at Glasgow in Scotland.
The Government has also announced similar financial assistance to long jumper Lokesh Sathyanathan of Bengaluru, who is also taking part in the Commonwealth Games.
The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar, who also holds the Sports Ministry portfolio.
The notification was issued by DYES under the ‘Target Olympic Medal’ programme under which the athletes representing at the international and national-level will be provided with financial assistance.
It may be recalled that Star of Mysore had published an article titled Mysuru’s para athlete Shilpa makes it to Commonwealth Games on July 22 highlighting her achievements and the need for financial support.
