Mysuru: As per the latest circular issued by the Department of Collegiate Education, hereafter all Government Degree Colleges in the State will commence classes daily from 9 am with effect from Aug. 1.
From the point of view of education and administration, the Department had felt that the Degree Colleges should operate from 8 am and accordingly, a circular too was issued recently.
However, the proposal received strong opposition from teaching faculty. They contended that many of the Degree Colleges in the State do not have own buildings and are functioning from PU College buildings operating classes on shift basis.
Added to that, it was said that many of the rural students commute from far off places and reaching the College by 8 am was very difficult. Hence, the Department has changed the timing to 9 am.
