‘Govt. has sanctioned Rs. 5 crore for Literary Centre at Santheshivara’

• First instalment of Rs. 50 lakh grant for ‘Parva’ play to be released by Mar. 31

Mysore/Mysuru: Kannada and Culture Minister Aravind Limbavali has stated that the theatrical adaptation of renowned novelist Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa’s famed novel ‘Parva’ will be staged at Rangayana in Mysuru and later across the State from March of this year.

Speaking to press persons after visiting Dr. Bhyrappa’s residence in Kuvempunagar here on Sunday, Limbavali said, “Rangayana Mysuru Director Addanda C. Cariappa had requested the Government to sanction Rs. 50 lakh for this ambitious project. We will be releasing the first instalment of the grant before Mar. 31. Before that, we are going hold a meeting with all Rangayana Directors and officials to discuss cultural activities to be taken up by the Department.”

“Dr. Bhyrappa is my guide. I am here to take his blessings after taking over as the Kannada & Culture Minister. He enquired about the progress in connection to the staging of theatre adaptation of ‘Parva’,” said the Minister.

Rs. 5 crore sanctioned for Literary Centre

Stating that in an effort to encourage youngsters to study literature, Dr. Bhyrappa had requested the Government to set up a Literary Centre at his native Santheshivara village in Hassan district, Minister Limbavali said that the State Government has already sanctioned Rs. 5 crore to set up a Literary Centre and take up development works in the littérateurs native village.”

During the Minister’s visit, the Saraswathi Samman Awardee gifted a book titled ‘Namma Bhyrappanavaru’ brought out by his fans, to Minister Limbavali.
