Govt. orders ban on fairs, processions and protests

Mysore/Mysuru: With the State Government ordering a ban on fairs, festivals, processions and protests in view of the sudden spike in COVID-19 cases, DCP Dr. A.N. Prakash Gowda said that all measures are being taken to ensure that people follow COVID appropriate behaviour in the city.

Speaking to Star of Mysore he said that all Police Stations of the city are holding many programmes, including conduct of awareness campaigns, distribution of face mask etc. Also, those found not wearing mask are being penalised. 

The Police will intensify the campaign in the coming days and those found violating COVID-19 norms will be booked under State Natural Disaster Management Act, he said and added that the members of the public must realise their social responsibility and strictly follow all guidelines for their own health and safety.

Pointing out that 100 Home Guards will be deployed along with the Police at all places of large public gatherings, the DCP said that banners, flexes and posters will be put up in front of cinema theatres, temples, bus stands, marriage halls etc., in order to educate the public on following Government guidelines. This apart, volunteers will also be engaged for public sensitisation, he added.
