Mysuru: Urging the Government to fix minimum wages, the helpers (Aaya) of Government Primary Schools, under the banner of Karnataka State Government Primary School Helpers Association, staged a protest in front of Zilla Panchayat (ZP) office here yesterday.
The helpers, who assembled in front of the ZP office, alleged that though the Government had issued an order to fix minimum wages to them about a year back, the officials of the Department of Public Instruction had not taken any action in this regard.
The protesters further said that as the Department did not take any action, they had to knock the doors of Dharwad Bench of Karnataka High Court which directed the Department of Public Instruction through a judgment on July 7, 2017 to fix minimum wages to the helpers.
They further alleged that though the time given by the Dharwad Bench of Karnataka High Court had elapsed, the Department officials had not taken any action in this regard.
Association State Secretary M. Mahesh Kumar, Shanthamma, Padmavathi, Sharadabai, Susheela Devi and others took part in the protest.
